"Anyone who admires the organ sumphonies of Vierne but is uninitiated into the 'liturgical' repertoire should acquire this impressive release....(a) truly great collection."

    Choir & Organ

"What a feast of great (and lesser-known) works is contained in this double CD set! And what a blaze of glory for Robert sharpe as he takes up his new challenge at York Minster...The famous Messe Solennelle makes great demands on the voice in range, tuning and expressions palette. these are issues for every choir but, as I suspected, the Truro choir meets them head on in performances that are passionate, fearless and committed."
    Organists' Review
"Op. 16, a choral mass, is relatively frequently heard on disc and, like the three motets, is beautifully sung by the choir of Truro Cathedral. Monica Brett-Crowther gives a delicious account of Les Angélus. She luxuriates in this sensuous religious work. Robert Sharpe’s playing of the organ pieces demonstrates artistry of the highest order. His renditions of the great showpieces, the B flat minor Toccata and the ‘Carillon de Westminster’ are exciting, without letting the music run away with itself. His performance of Op. 62 is especially rewarding: emotionally charged, but perfectly controlled. Robert Sharpe’s performances are captivating.
