    Vox dicentis
    Choral music by E W Naylor
    The Choir of Emmanuel College, Cambridge
    Organists George Lacey and Adam Mathias
    Directed by Richard Latham

    ‘His music is beautiful, tuneful, and dramatic. Listening to various anthems, you can hear a very strong church music influence. He is not afraid of using unison phrases to
    emphasise the text. Track four is particularly great. Jubilate Deo’ he writes it with a great triumph and pomp, which befits the words: ‘O be joyful in the Lord’ The choir are excellent as one would expect from a Cambridge College choir The youthful voices really make for a clean crisp sound, with barely any inter-note vibrato on this CD;
    which deserves great thanks!’

    ‘a committed, spacious, and dramatic performance...I warmly recommend this disc to lovers of English music.’
    Organists’ Review September 2014

    Edward Woodall Naylor (1867–1934) was Organist of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, from 1898 until his death.

    Apart from his well-known anthem ‘Vox dicentis: Clama’ and a few canticle settings, very little of his music is known, or is in the repertoire of choirs, today.

    This is the first recording entirely devoted to his choral works, and contains seven first recordings.
