Description

The critically-acclaimed Saint Louis Chamber Chorus is one of the world’s largest annual commissioners of new choral music. The impressive list of names illustrates the strong associations the Chamber Chorus has made with both well-established and younger emerging contemporary composers from around the globe.

This latest release, Saint Louis Reflections – the Chorus’s eighth recording on the Regent label – showcases a selection of eleven commissions from the last fifteen years. All of the works are receiving their premiere recording.

Reviews

‘Once again, Philip Barnes and the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus have provided a stimulating and rewarding programme of recent choral music. We can only applaud their determination to continue to give composers the stimulus to write interesting new choral compositions through the series of commissions they offer. Having commissioned the music, the SLCC then perform it with great accomplishment, as is the case on this disc. I enjoyed and admired in equal measure what I heard here.’
John Quinn, MusicWeb July 2024

‘11 commissions from the past 15 years, all receiving their first recordings. They are deeply felt and often emotionally moving tributes’ Gramophone October 2024

‘The choir’s stamina is tested and its excellent tuning showcased’ ★★★★★ Choir and organ September 2024

‘These folks are good enough to sound terrific singing anything.’ American Record Guide November 2024
