'Reverberant acoustics and clear vocal lines combine in this pleasing collection'

    Choir & Organ November/December 2020

'...the fulsome top line provided by the combined boys and girls of the Abbey Choirs, best heard in the descant to Once in royal David’s city. The recording is most notable for Huw Williams’s salute to his former Hereford Cathedral colleague, the great Roy Massey, including Massey’s arrangements of the Ukrainian carol Long the night and his setting, with strident but austere organ, of Adam lay ybounden. The best showcase for the Klais is Mack Wilberg’s arrangement of Ding dong! merrily on high, played with relish by assistant organist Shean Bowers.' Gramophone December 2020

‘The singing is sweet and pure, the voices possess a charming, almost innocent quality, their words are crystal clear... All-in-all this has all the makings of a popular recital of conventional Christmas carols, and will be lapped up by anyone who enjoys beautifully performed, traditional Christmas music.’ MusicWeb December 2020

‘... perfectly judged tempi for the acoustics, pristine vowels from the choir, and well-balanced organ accompaniments... an enjoyable disc with an understated musical sophistication.’
