Reviews

Vaughan plays on the stupendous Harrison and Harrison found in St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol, England. Built in 1911, the 4- manual, 71-stop organ has a seemingly endless variety of color, a dynamic range from ppp to fff, and plenty of power. It is considered by many the finest high-romantic organ ever constructed. Vaughn uses it superbly in every piece on the program and manages to show off all the stops, including a marvelous French Horn (heard in the slow movement of the Fifth Symphony), ethereal strings, a magical Vox Humana, all capped by a Tuba and 32′ Double Ophicleide which will make you to jump out of your seat.’  American Record Guide May 2018

‘Vaughn and the Harrison organ do full justice to Tchaikovsky in this thrilling release.’  Choir and Organ May/June 2018‘

‘…a delightful listening experience.’ ★★★★★ The Organ November 2018

‘…the “wow” factor has gone up a couple of notches. Not only is Jonathan Vaughn’s playing just as riveting as before, but now some of the transcription/arrangements for organ of these orchestral works are his own, and remarkably done…This is truly a one-man-80-piece-orchestra showmanship at work here.’ ClassicalMusicSentinel April 2018

‘Organ-lovers will treasure this CD’ Cathedral Music November 2018

…quite breath taking in its energy and virtuosity…this recording is a superb demonstration of world-class organ, player and music… in the expert hands and ears of organ and choir recording genius Gary Cole and the Regent team, this is as good as it gets without braving the M4/M32 around Bristol.’  Sydney Organ Journal, Winter 2018
